Where Have I Been?

God it is so hard to start writing again when it feels like I’ve been gone for ages.  I’ve been wondering am I writing this blog because I truly enjoy it or has it become a chore.  Lately I’ve felt like it’s become a chore.  Which is sad because in my heart I truly enjoy writing about my life.  Life though has had plans for me in the last 2 weeks and writing has not been a part of it.

We sold our house! Yippee!!!  After 2 months on the market and endless showings we actual had 2 offers on the same day.  2 couples that walked through the house made on offer the next day.  Which was perfect as our agent was able to play the 2 against each other and we ended up getting our asking price and a closing date one week later than when our new house closes.   That was such a relief for me.  I did not want to have to move in with my inlaws.  Hopefully the new house will be ready on time.  We drove by yesterday and today Joe spoke with the site supervisor and everything is on schedule.  The roof is on and the windows have been installed.  Now we can start purging and packing.

Work has been alright.  I’ve applied for another position downtown which I’m not happy with going downtown but the pay is better than what I make now and hopefully the position will stimulate my oh so tired brain than my current job.  At the same time though I really don’t want to leave my job.  Without talking about the actual work I do I enjoy the group of people I work with, the job is not stressful at all and once I move the commute in will be so quick.  So I might be a little hesitant in actually accepting the job if I am successful.

Tomorrow Joe leaves for his annual 4 day fishing trip up to North Bay.  i am so jealous.  I would love to be up north right now in a boat fishing.  Then the next week after the 16th he’s off to Ottawa for another 4 days for work.  The bastard.  I’m waiting for July 18-20th for my weekend away.   Check out all the new details here!  If anyone also needs a roomie for that weekend email me or leave me a comment.  I’ve decided to go for the whole weekend and leave early on Sunday so I’ll make it back in time for the bridal shower that I have to go to that Sunday afternoon.

I’ve been doing a lot reading in these last few weeks.  I was lucky enough to score a free copy of Petite Anglaise’s book, thanks Kgirl.  I’ve been reading her blog now for over a year now and I enjoyed reading the book as it explained much of what happened prior to when I started reading the blog.  Today I was supposed to go to a brunch downtown where Catherine of PA was to be there via live feed from Paris but someone forgot that he was supposed to be home today with Samantha and had to go to work instead and I had no one else availble to babysit.  I was so disappointed.  Tonite I made Joe schedule my weekend away in July so he doesn’t make other plans.  It’s not like he forgets his fishing weekend.

I’ve read the new Rebecca Eckler book, Toddlers Gone Wild, which was a series of short essays on different aspects of parenting a toddler.  Hilarious reading, so much that I could identify with.  Another book I finished, was one of the Shopoholic books.  I’m late to that series but am really enjoying them.  Makes me want to go shopping even more.  Bonus is that a movie is in the works based on the series!  Which leads me to wanting to see the Sex and the City movie.  I’m trying to plan a girls night out with some gfriends from work for that one.  Finally the last book on my nightstand is Ariana Franklin’s  The Serpent of Death, a sequel to this novel.  Set in medieval times it tells the story of a female pathologist, a rarity in those times, and her adventures.  Great reading.

So I’m off tonite to enjoy my night, Samantha slept early for the evening due to her no nap today.  She rarely naps for me anymore so that kinda sets the tone for the weekend for me.  At least that usually means an early bedtime and thankfully the weather is hot and sunny so we don’t have to be cooped up indoors for too too long!

  1. You can’t come to Ottawa with Joe? :)

Congrats on selling the house. That’s a load off!

  2. I love the shopoholic books…they’re so funny! I’m not sure the movie will be as good. The story is based in New York, not in England where it should be.

Congrats again on selling the house!

  3. Congratulations on the house!

I couldn’t make the brunch for pretty much the exact same reason. Sucks.

  4. oh I wish you came to the launch!
I had a conflict with an appointment for Julia so I just brought her instead of missing out.

  5. Congrats on selling the house! Good luck on the process downtown… Save a seat for me at the Arby’s… I think I’m in a pool down there.

  6. Congrats on selling the house! I didn’t make it to the brunch either; too many kids to offload.
